Hard Maple is one of North America’s most versatile and best-loved hardwood trees. The Hard Maple we use for our flooring comes from the selectively cut, self-sustaining forests of the Northeast, the most renowned maple producing area in the United States.

Premium Hard Maple

Premium Hard Maple is hand selected to minimize the natural character variations of the species. Lustrous white color, slight color variations are accepted. This grade is practically free of all defects, but the natural color of the wood shall not be considered a defect. Some brown heartwood may be included, if it does not exceed 5% of the surface area of any piece.

Select Hard Maple

Select Hard Maple is the logical choice when a light colored, durable floor is desired. All of the developing sapwood is included. Some brown heartwood may be included, if it does not exceed 25% of the surface area of any piece. Small character marks such as mineral streaks and sound knots up to ¼” in diameter are permitted.

Harvest Hard Maple

Harvest Hard Maple highlights the full appearance of the Maple tree. Each piece is hand-picked from our Select stock to show the living beauty of the whole tree. Harvest Maple allows unlimited brown heartwood and contrasting white sapwood, which offers a lively, variegated look. Unlimited character marks, tight sound knots, mineral streaks, and even an occasional open defect that may require filling before sanding are permitted in Certified Harvest Maple.
